Rare Cars, Historic Racing, and Automotive Excellence at Sonoma Raceway

Last weekend, Sonoma Raceway once again played host to one of the most interesting automotive events in the country – Velocity Invitational!
Not your usual race weekend, Velocity combines the worlds of historic motorsport, exotic collector cars, supercars, and much more under one roof. It has quickly become one of the most famous automotive festivals in all of North America.
More Than Racing
What sets Velocity Invitational apart from other automotive festivals is the diversity of its program.
Fans were able to walk through paddocks packed with some of the most rare cars ever created, as well as watch vintage race cars competing on Sonoma Raceway’s famous road course. Among the many historic race cars, you can find some classic Ferraris and Porsches, vintage Formula race cars, and famous endurance cars.
Also unlike other motorsports events, spectators can interact with cars, drivers, owners, and engineers, which makes for a truly memorable experience.
Guest Appearances and Other Activities
Among the attractions offered at the festival, one should also include guest appearances by Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda, rally driver Lia Block, and actor Sung Kang known as Son O’ Digger in the Fast & Furious movie franchise. Another attraction included in the program was the Friday Night Meet event gathering enthusiasts, photographers, and car collectors from around California.
Celebrating Automotive Heritage
One of the hallmarks of Velocity Invitational, besides its diverse schedule, is the large collection of historic cars.
Throughout the weekend, people could see such models as:
• Classic Ferrari race cars
• Competition Porsches
• Race Ford GT cars
• Vintage Aston Martin cars
• Vintage Formula race cars
• Super cars and hypercars
Both historic racing cars and modern performance automobiles were showcased in abundance during Velocity Invitational, showing off the best of automotive engineering over the years.
Why Events Like This Are Important for Us in the Industry
Being in the auto repair industry, one cannot help but appreciate the high degree of engineering and precision of automotive production, which we can observe when attending events like Velocity Invitational.
It does not matter whether you talk about a historic race car from the 1960s or a modern performance vehicle stuffed with electronics, there is one thing that connects them all – the importance of precision and craftsmanship.
Engineering, materials used, finishes, workmanship – all of these factors play an extremely important role in the creation of any car, even a daily use vehicle. And it reminds us how critical the proper repair procedure is.
Anthony’s Auto Craft Perspective
Here at Anthony’s Auto Craft, we appreciate high engineering standards and great attention to detail demonstrated during the production of today’s automobiles. For us, events like Velocity Invitational provide an additional motivation to invest in training, equipment, manufacturer’s procedures, and craftsmanship. Our job is simple – regardless of the model of your vehicle – we restore your car to its factory condition.
Yet another example of why Sonoma Raceway is considered one of the best automotive venues in California.
